Welcome to Willow!
You will find Year 3 lurking in the most extraordinary places. We might be out hunting with our stone age cousins; or sat at the knee of Roald Dahl as he tells us one of his stories; we could be running through the streets on Pompeii escaping the noxious gasses of Mount Vesuvius; perhaps we might be out searching under rocks and bushes for lurking predators or we could be taking our chances with Cruella De Vil. Failing that we could also be in the swimming pool! Life is never dull in Year 3 and we always work hard!
Our Year 3 topics and activities present the children with plenty of experiences that show them the varied and ever changing world in which they live. This year they have explored the animal kingdom, looked at both created and real life heroes and villains, they have explored pre-history with a trip to the Celtic Harmony Centre, visited the Roald Dahl museum in a topic that included both the author’s work and the ‘scrumdiddlyumptiousness’ of food and they have looked at the very components that make up our sometimes turbulent planet. The pièce de résistance being the Sing Up concert in front of hundreds of spectators at the Bedford Corn Exchange as well as their participation in the school play.
Our current topics are:
Autumn 1: Predators Autumn 2: Heroes and Villains
Spring 1: Scrumdiddlyumptious Spring 2: Tremors
Summer 1: Tribal Tales Summer 2: Might Metals
Year 3 marks a change in a child’s school life; it is the start of Key Stage 2 where they are encouraged to have a more independent approach to work. With an engaging curriculum, a growing array of extra-curricular opportunities and enthusiastic staff, we think your child will have a year to remember!
